AI Sprite Sheet & Animation Generator
Describe a character or prop. Bring it to life. Download a transparent sprite sheet for your game.
Pixel art in motion
From an idea to an animated sprite
- Step 1
Describe your animation
Describe a hero, animal, creature or prop and how it should move. Add an optional reference image. Rosebud chooses the game view, facing and animation from your prompt, or you can set them in Animation options.
- Step 2
Create in one step
Check the total credit cost and select Create animation. Rosebud prepares your sprite and animates it automatically. Follow the progress and elapsed timer while your animation is generated.
- Step 3
Download your sprite sheet
Preview the animation, download a GIF to share, or get a ZIP with a transparent PNG sheet, reference pose and JSON timing for your game.
The motions your game needs
Animate players, NPCs, animals, creatures and props. Each generation creates one motion in one facing.
Idle animation
Breathing, a small shift in weight or a subtle tail movement keeps a stationary player, NPC or pet alive. A short loop works while the character waits for input.
Walk cycle
The foundation for exploration, town NPCs and simulation games. Use a repeating cycle while your engine moves the character, keeping the view consistent with your reference.
Attack animation
Give melee combat a readable wind-up, strike and recovery. Describe the weapon when creating your character, then let the game trigger damage at the appropriate moment.
Custom motion
Describe a character gesture or dance, a chest opening, a torch flickering or another prop motion in your own words. Review the motion before generating; the downloaded JSON specifies its timing and playback behavior.
Jump animation
A compact anticipation, airborne pose and landing for platform and action games. The artwork changes pose while the game remains responsible for the jump trajectory.
Top-down
A view from above for exploration, town NPCs and 2D RPGs. Choose the facing that fits your sprite in the game.
Isometric
An angled view for simulation and strategy games. Keep your character or prop perspective consistent with your world.
Platformer
A profile view for platformers and side-scrolling action. Choose the facing that fits your character or prop.
Your sprite, your engine
The PNG contains the artwork; the JSON describes the frames, timing and pivot. Use it as an import reference, not an engine plugin. Choose nearest-neighbor filtering to keep pixels crisp.
Rosebud
Upload the PNG to your game assets. Ask Rosie to animate it, providing the frame dimensions, frame order and timing from the downloaded JSON.
Unity
Import the PNG as a Sprite with Multiple mode. In Sprite Editor, slice the grid using the exported frame dimensions. Assemble the frames into an animation and match its timing and looping to the JSON.
Godot
Add an AnimatedSprite2D with a SpriteFrames resource. Choose Add frames from a Sprite Sheet, set the grid and select the frames in order. Match the playback speed and loop setting to the export.
Phaser
Load the PNG as a sprite sheet with the exported frame width and height. Create an animation from the ordered frames, then set its timing and repeat behavior. Play it on your Sprite when the action starts.
Loop idle and walk. Play attack and jump once, then transition to the next state. For custom character and prop motions, follow the playback behavior in the JSON: a torch can loop, while a chest can hold open. Your game controls movement, collisions and when actions happen.
Sprite animation questions
What can I animate?
Describe a humanoid, animal, creature or prop and how it should move. You can add a small PNG for visual inspiration. Rosebud chooses the game view, facing and animation from your prompt, or you can choose them in Animation options before generation. Character presets include idle, walk, attack and jump, with custom motion for anything else. Props use custom motions, such as a chest opening or a torch flickering. Full scenes are not supported.
Can I describe a custom animation?
Yes. Include the motion in your main prompt, or open Animation options and choose Custom to describe it separately. Rosebud prepares the sprite and animates it in one generation flow. Props use custom motion automatically.
Is the sprite animation generator free?
Examples are free to preview. Create animation uses Rosebud credits, with one total price that includes preparing the sprite and generating the animation. The credit cost appears below the Create animation button before you start. Each purchase generates one motion in one facing.
How long does generation take?
A typical animation takes about three to seven minutes, and the result page shows elapsed time while it is generating. Generation continues when you refresh. Keep the result page open or bookmark its link to return to the animation.
What files do I get?
A GIF for sharing, plus a game-ready ZIP containing a transparent PNG sprite sheet, the reference pose and a JSON manifest. The manifest includes ordered frame rectangles, frame durations, a fixed pivot, nearest-neighbor filtering and loop or play-once behavior.
Can I use the sprite sheet in Godot, Unity or Phaser?
The PNG frames can be imported into 2D game engines. Slice the sheet using the frame rectangles, set the frame durations and pivot from the JSON, and use nearest-neighbor filtering. The JSON is a documented export format, not an engine plugin.
Why do some animations loop and others play once?
Idle and walk repeat continuously. Attack and jump play once and return to the reference pose. Custom character and prop motions use the playback behavior specified in the exported JSON: loop, play once or hold the final frame. For example, a flickering torch can loop while a chest opening can hold open. Your game controls movement, physics and when each action starts.
What if generation fails or I want another version?
Technical delivery failures receive an automatic credit refund. If a delivered animation needs an artistic revision, a new attempt has a separate quote and charge. Sending feedback does not generate or charge anything.
Are my uploaded sprites public?
Your uploads and generated animations stay private to your account. The examples on this page are a curated library; your results are not automatically added to it.
