In the world of 3D creation, having the right tools can make all the difference.
Rosebud is the leading AI platform for crafting 3D projects, from games to interactive apps and even websites. Rosebud does the heavy lifting so you can focus on creativity.
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through how to create and import a custom 3D model into your Rosebud project. From generating a character concept to animating it and integrating it into your game, we’ll cover the essential steps to get you started on Rosebud.
You can check this video or follow the steps down below:
Step 1: Generate Your 3D Model’s Concept
First, you’ll need an image to base your 3D model on. You can use the Rosebud asset generator, or go to a tool like ChatGPT or any AI that generates images from prompts.
Type something like “T-pose of a big scary ogre” or your desired character concept. Once the image is generated, save it to your computer.
Make sure the file is saved as a JPEG or PNG. If it’s in another format, convert it before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Remove the Background
Next, remove the image’s background. Go to remove.bg and upload your file.
Once the background is removed, download the new version of your image and save it to your computer.
Step 3: Convert Your Image Into a 3D Model
Now it’s time to give your concept some depth! Go to meshy.ai and click on Image to 3D.
Upload your background-free image and name your creation (optional, but helpful!).
Turn on the symmetry option for cleaner results and Press Generate for the magic to happen!
Once generated, select the 3D model example that best fits your vision and click Confirm to remesh and texture it.
Step 4: Animate Your Character
Want your character to move? Let’s animate it!
Assign rig circles to the correct positions on your character, and choose an animation style from the free options provided.
When you’re done, download your animated model as either an FBX or GLB file:
• FBX typically includes the character model.
• GLB often contains animations and skin.
Either file type works with Rosebud, so pick what you need.
Step 5: Upload Your Model to Rosebud
With your 3D model ready, it’s time to bring it into Rosebud:
Go to Rosebud and log in, click My Projects in the top-right corner and select Create New Game.
Then choose a 3D Blank project to start fresh.
Step 6: Add Your Character to the Game
Inside your project:
1. Go to the Assets tab.
2. Upload your 3D model (use the animation with skin file, if applicable).
3. Drag your model into the scene.
The game engine will automatically input some starter code for your character.
Step 7: Make Adjustments With Rosie
Rosie, the AI assistant, can help tweak your model to perfection. For example:
• If your character appears too large, ask Rosie to resize it.
• If it’s floating above the ground, Rosie can help adjust the position.
Simply describe the changes you need, and let Rosie handle the rest!
Step 8: Start Building Your Game
With your 3D character in place, you’re ready to create your game. Use Rosie for additional coding or design tips and watch your ideas come to life.
And there you have it—your custom 3D model is now part of your Rosebud game project!
